Hi everyone. I'm new here and new to keeping firebellies let alone any sort of amphibians/reptiles. My sister has always had small turtles but aside from that my family has always had dogs. I recently went with my girlfriend to Petsmart as she wanted to get a pet fish. While we were there I saw the firebellies and fell in love. I bought one, a small round enclosure and some crickets. I started reading up on raising these guys and remembered that my brother had a 10 gallon tank from when he had a turtle for a few weeks. I asked him if I could have it and now I've got a nice set-up going.
I just went to petsmart last week and bought two more. They are all named Master Chief (MC), Cortana, and The Arbiter. I found out today that MC is definitely a male as The Arbiter climbed on top of him and he started doing the special (get the $@&# off me) bark. They've been extra feisty today. Cortana actually climbed over MC to get a cricket and attacked The Arbiter to try taking one out of it's mouth. The funny thing is that Cortana eats more than the other ones on average.
Anyways. I thought I would introduce myself and share some of my experience thus far. I will upload pictures of my FBTs and enclosure as soon as I'm in front of my Mac at my office. This forum doesn't seem to like the iPad enough to enable me to upload photos.
Welcome to the forum and to the world of frog keeping!
welcome to the wonderful world of FBTs.![]()
Welcome to the forum and to the firebellied toads! I started with 3 not too long ago and came home with 2 more tonight. They are amusing to watch, quite active usually and LOVE their crickets!
Welcome. Can't wait to see photos.
