Default Is it safe to use fake plants inside a vivarium?

    Hello everyone!

Im getting some Green tree frogs (whites tree frogs) and it will be easier for me to use fake plants.

I have heard and read conflicting things about fake plants but i don't really know whats true.

So, it is safe and are there any disadvantages for using then?

The concern I would have with artificial plants is that they can do damage to the frogs internals if they should accidentally ingest the material and the rough edges can injure the frog's delicate skin. I would decorate using the real thing.

I use fake plants in all my frog's enclosures. I have seen no ill effects in using them. However, due to preference I just recently bought a pothos plant to divide accordingly and grow out to replace my fake ones.

some fake plants have wires sticking out. like when a leaf falls off its a little wire that was holding it on. so bend that or cut it off to get rid of it so it doesnt poke or scrape your frog. they are sharp. i have seen them on my own fake vines. Pothos are great plants to use. they divide easily and are hard to kill. they also look nice and are strong enough for frogs to stand on. and probably cheaper than any fake plants. also be sure to clean and sanitize anything you put in the tank. whether fake or real clean clean clean. with real plants its best wash off all the leaves and all the soil and repot with your own substrate. eco earth seems to work great for my pothos.

I wouldn't place a fake plant in my enclosures that I would feel are not safe. I know Pothos are good and easy to keep; that's why I picked one up, lol. I paid like $7-8 for it, so I thought it wasn't bad for such a plant. I can't wait to get it split and growing for all my enclosures. They will look 10xs better with the real plant, I believe!
