Do males grow slower than females or does growth rate depend on what is beeing fed?
Yes, females tend to grow faster and reach larger sizes. But it is also dependent on diet and the conditions in which the frog is kept, particularly while he/she is maturing. Proper diet, supplimentation, temperature, and humidity all can effect growth rate. Also, the frogs breeding. They can mature at very different rates.
Thanks Grif. I've been raising several Ceratophrys of opp. the same age/size and under the same conditions and feeding scedual. And I realy see a huge differense in growth of the little ones. I've also noticed that the ones thatwill eat mainly crickets grow slower than those that eat a more varied diet all the time. Ofcorse all needed supplements are given in the exact same way.
The ones that grow fasted are my Fantasy's. They are at least twice the size of the biggest cramwelli's. But they are realy gready feeders too, always hungry although they are kept a little bit cooler than my other crammies.
