I actually really have no clue, although I found an interesting article about Frogs in your location[Western Ghats] via google and one frog in particular looks similar to the pictures you posted;
Ghatophryne ornata
But again, I'm not entirely sure, so maybe someone more knowledgable will come along and correct me, but if you'd like, you can read the article yourself to see if anything seems similar or familiar to you .

I am not sure what species it is. I seems to have all the characteristics of a toad. Right now, the western ghats is becoming a global diversity hotspot for new species of frogs and toads. So, keep on the lookout, you might find one

Turns out it is the Indian Bullfrog Hoplobatrachus tigerinus
