    He is one handsome boy!! You don't see too many of the Joazeirensis. It's great that you've been able to raise one! You might get some more comments in you posted these pics in the "Pacman" section. More people traffic that area. And this guy deserves to be seen! :-)

    Thank you. I was trying to figure out how to post in that section. I was not sure how to. This species is very new to the pet trade, not many have 'em you are right.

    They're not really new to the trade they're just rare. 2 Or 3 of the Ceratophrys species are rare and when they do appear for sale they are not cheap like Ceratophrys Aurita which I want very badly, but are $400.00 plus in cost just for a baby that is quarter sized.

    Why are they rare to the pet trade? I've never heard of this frog, so if it's special, I wouldn't know .

    Nearly all frogs change color. Especially as they grow from froglet to adult. Ceratophrys Joazeirensis is commonly known as The Caatinga Horned Frog. There are Brown and green morphs or phases of this species of Ceratophrys. Most frogs change color to adapt to their surroundings to camouflage themselves. It is very common for most if not all frog species to change color. Their skin contains several color pigments that they can utilize for the benefit of hiding and some will even change color with their mood.

    All right they are rare. What about C. Cornuta, rare still?

    Somewhat yes, but you can still find them. Most found are usually wild caught, but there are a few breeders out there. I Mike from Mike's Phat Frogs got some eggs, but they were not fertilized well enough to hatch. Ivory Reptiles is also Planning on breeding C. Cornuta in the future. You can find them at Jelaz Phat Phibs too.

    C. Aurita may be the rarest. There are only like 2 breeders of them in the world. Along with C. Testudo and C. Calcarata. which may possibly be seen less in the trade.

    There are 8 known species of Ceratophrys. They are;

    C. Aurita
    C. Calcarata
    C. Cornuta
    C. Cranwelli
    C. Joazeirensis
    C. Ornata
    C. Stolzmani
    C. Testudo
