Ok, since it's summer time most people go on vacations and this year I am probably going to go on many minor vacations and the most time I will be gone for is a week. While I'm having fun, who's gonna take care of my frog?! For the vacations that my family and I are only going to be gone for a 1 1/2 days would it be okay of I just left the lights off and fed him about 5 crickets? ( he's only like 2 inches) my biggest concern is humidity, I am not sure if my parents will buy me a automatic mister so, if I spray it a ton and it stays higher than 50% for 12 hours. Though since probably no one in my area could walk over and spray the cage ( the all gotta a lack of forgetting things) would of be okay if for the rest of the time the humitdy was just extremely low? I mean he's got his water dish but would that do? Oh and one last thing if I happen to be gone for a while could I just stuff him with like 7 or 8 crickets that would last him 4-5 days? Or would he get sick?

my frog doesnt eat until hes sick. he might eat a couple then move on to the water dish. im sure the water dish will dry out and/or get dirty from sitting within 4-5 days so im not sure how to help you there. you dont have a family member or a friend who can come over and check up on your frogs? maybe get a cricket keeper and have him/her throw a few in there for you and change the water and give it a quick mist. even if they can only do it once out of the 4-5 cay period that would be better than nothing. 1.5 days isnt too bad. ive left mine for about a day and everything was ok when i got back. an automatic mister would help a lot but i think they are pretty expensive. maybe a neighbor can come over and spray him? or someone trustworthy?

Yah I really want an automatic mister. On some vacations my family will be gone with me and my closest relative is 3 hours away;( Thoguh on the ones that i am only gone on they can take csre of it.(I may be able to get a neighbor who would help but I would have to choose wisely because one of them can't even remember to feed are cat. Lol,) Thanks for so much helpful advice

My family and I go camping each weekend (friday night - sunday afternoon) and my babe's have actually done fairly well being left on there own for such a short time. I leave the lights out, turn down the room air conditioner, and make sure the water dishes are deep enough not to dry out while I'm away. Then I leave 6-10 crickets for my whites and around a dozen for the green (I put a lot in his tank usually anyway and only give him more when I dont see them rushing around anymore), make sure the dishes are full and clean, and water there live plants really well.

For the short time I've been gone the temps and humidity seem to stay consistent probably because of the live plant that keeps the humidity fairly constant even if I dont mist every day. The whites water is usually dirty but, well, her water is ALWAYS dirty. XD

The only minor issue I seemed to have with the whites was she was rather "traumatized" after the first two weekends away but I think it was more "OMG! THE GIVER OF CRICKETS IS BACK! Now clean my poopy water slave" then anything to do with her enclosure. Shes settled into a good routine and shes finally stopped eating all the crickets the first night and there is usually 3-4 left when I get back.

Longer vacations, though, you'll want to find someone at least mist and, if your frogs are like mine, dump and refill water dishes. I doubt you'll need to have your frog sitter feed them, though, if you put a few more in before you leave. Its mostly temps, humidity, and clean water you gotta worry about.
