I purchased 2 pothos and 2 bromeliads from Lowe's today, and am hoping to add them to my terrariums already housing frogs. I plan to wash the plants well, rinsing leaves and all dirt off the roots and then plant it. Is there anything else I should do to prepare the plants for use with frogs?
Thanks in advance for any input.
what size tank are you using. IMO the broms sold at home depot and lowes are extremely big and look kind of out of place in vivs unless you have a really big viv. I like to stick to the smaller broms for viv use as it looks more appealing to me. As far as preparing for the viv, a good wash with the faucet usually does the trick, just make sure you get all the old soil off the plant roots and rinse the whole plant as well
I have a 25 gallon and a 30 gallon square-type tanks. I'm pretty sure the bromeliads are small, the leaves spread out to around a foot total, and there's reddish small leaves on it as it prepares to flower, I think. There were some bigger ones there.
I would suggest also doing a soap spray on them. This will help kill any bugs that may be on the plants axis.
