yes like savannah said taller is better. i keep 2 in a 30 gallon. you might be able to squeeze one in a 10 gallon with the vertical conversion kit for a while. i kept mine in a 10 gallon for a few months and he did ok but i WOULD NOT RECCOMEND IT! the absolute smallest i would put one in is a 10 gallon converted vertical. and i probably wouldnt even do that. so anything bigger than that should be fine.
