So usually my husband is the one who can't resist a pacman, but today I was the guilty party... we walked into petsmart and I looked over at the reptile/amphibian section like I always do. From 10 feet away I see this flash of bright green. Sure enough, when I get closer I see this little beauty! The bright color and reduced pattern were so eye-catching! I knew instantly that he/she was coming home with us. So I convinced my husband that we REALLY needed to get it (not that it took much convincing! lol). My birthday is in like three weeks, so I think it is a great early birthday present. It is bright green- lime with a greyish-color around the spots. He/she also has the broken bar on the forehead like Pariah does. I really wonder which breeder supplies Petsmart... Anyway, since Petsmart knows nothing, they were selling it as a green Cranwelli for $16. What a steal!
Here is our newest addition:

Squeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
Looks as small as some of our emerging froglets!!!
Great find! Lucky frog found the perfect home! Wondering if the supplier for Petsmart isn't the Frog Ranch??? If so, wonder what small breeder he is getting them from.
Well, Mike from Mike's Frogs says it is a Green Apple... I am a little concerned now since I know they tend to have health issues as they mature. But I just couldn't say no to this cutie!! :-D
But with regards to the breeder, I thought Frog Ranch didn't do hybrids like green apples? If it isn't them supplying Petsmart, then who is. I am wondering if they have a breeder who has that broken mark on its forehead? Since I had never seen one with that and now we have two in a row from Petsmart with that. It's interesting. I would love to know!
It isn't too small. Maybe a little bigger than a quarter. Definitely bigger than Pariah was. :-)
He's a beauty! Great find! Another green...lol!![]()

my group of greens i order one had look exactly like that but had sold them two the petstore
Ceratophyrs and African Bullfrog Keeper For Life
The original breeder of the green apples sold off his adults this year. Im not sure who is producing the green apples now. That one looks nice though. Frogranch doesnt sell to petsmart and petco. Calzoo Does. They are a wholesaler down here in California and have a contract with them.
The Frog Ranch buys from small breeders too, then sells to the corporate petshops.
It does have the look of a Green Apple, let's hope it stays nice & healthy for you!!
Regardless of whether its an Apple or not we will love him/her just the same. We will provide precise care and do our best. If it isn't an Apple then its pretty much one of the most unique and green Cranwelli I've seen and for $16.00 well worth it.
I did manage to get him/her to eat one small cricket, but the forsepts are out of the question for now. Lets keep our fingers crossed.![]()
Lol!!!! He's a cutie! Green or brown.
Good luck with the little guy. You guys take such great care of your frogs, I'm betting he'll do just fine.
Any thoughts for names?

Great find, cute little guy, beautiful colors and markings. Hope you can enjoy it for a long time.
Absolutely! I saw him/her from across the room and it was love at first sight. :-D Lol! I really do love that color! I had never actually seen any hybrids in real life (only pictures). The colors are just so much more vibrant than you can capture in a photo. He/she is such a little gem! :-D
