Hi and welcome to Frog Forum! I have a couple of dwarf pyxies and feed then 8-10 large, dusted crickets weekly. I also feed occasional worms and other invertebrates. A good rule of thumb to follow is don't feed food items that are larger than 50% the size of its mouth. Avoid obesity! When they are young, it is better to feed smaller food items more often. As they grow larger, increase food size and feed less often. You can get some great information here

    2 inches :

you can feed it 2 or 3 times a week with also other things than crickets (It is important to give miscellaneous preys for its health).

Best foods are : crickets, locusts, roaches, earthworms, nightcrawlers and mices.

Add some "calcium powde"r on 2 insects per week and "calcium powder + vit D3" on 2 insects per month for example.

Welcome to Frog Forum Pixie18! At 2 in. they are hard to sex so don't be surprised if one day your female should croak.

Can feed daily until it reaches close to 3 in. and then go into a every other day mode until it reaches 5 in. Then can go into every 2-3 days based on frog feeding response. Feed all crickets your frog will eat in 15 minutes (mine eats fast and is full by around 10 min. when it looses interest in food). Other excellent food is Canadian night crawlers and can find those in Walmart's sporting section or local bait store. Do make sure they are the plain version and not dyed. I dust crickets every other feeding with Repashy's Ca and every weekend with a multi-vitamin supplement.

Get a humidity gauge and place on glass close to substrate. You want to maintain humidity close to 80% and adjust misting/ventilation as required. No problem with misting frog itself but do make sure both the misting and soaking water are safe by using an aquarium or reptile conditioner that neutralizes Cl, chloramines, and heavy metals. Do read the African Bullfrog care sheet Terry linked and good luck!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

i also had a question on cleaning her enclosure...i've just been making her hop into a Tupperware container and placing her in a plastic critter container and then wearing latex surgical gloves and picking out as much of the coconut fiber as i can and then putting new substrate in over whats left also i just use a damp paper towel to wipe down the glass. i would just like to know if this is okay. she also sometimes jumps into the glass with her snout and makes a little thud could this cause any serious damage? thank you to whoever reply's.

Sounds good to me! If you pick up the frogs poop as it happens and change bath water daily; you could go from a couple weeks to a month between substrate changes depending on frog/enclosure size.

My Stilgar has hit the glass a few times and actually bumped into it to get my attention with no damage; so I would not worry about it unless it's a constant thing. Good luck!

    Hi there,

I'm no expert and do not have either a Pyxicephalus Adspersus nor Pyxicephalus Edulis, but I believe their care is similar with a very slight difference. May not even be enough to cause any issue, but again I am no expert.

hey, my dwarf pixie frog isn't acting right. this morning i found her in her tank flipped over on her back and it looked like she was struggling to flip herself over so i put my hand in to help her up and hours later when i got home and decided to clean her tank i noticed her back legs weren't moving and she didn't try to hop away from me. now i see she has trouble moving around her tank and that her back legs aren't moving that much and she seems kinda limp. i feed her 5 large crickets every other day, change her water everyday, and clean her tank every 2 weeks so i don't know what happened an info you guys can give me will be appreciated, thanks!!!

the temp is always in the high 70's and 80's, but when i went to the store the guy that works there said it's because of her low calcium in take so i bought some calcium powder and i started to dust the crickets once or twice a week and she seems a little better but when i held her recently she still felt a little weak
