What bulb is this?

Hey I'm preparing for my new Whites Tree Frog which I will be getting buying with my money after my 13th birthday (23rd may)
I have the vivarium cleaned and ready to be siliconed (It is a large wooden viv but it wont rot if siliconed)
This bulb came with the vivarium it's Exo Terra 75w 230v I thought it was a heatlamp- it turns purple and give of a fair amount of heat, raises the temp to 78'F But All the ones i can find say they give off red light. I'm now thinking it's a moon lamp. Can i use it for my future Whites Tree Frog to keep the temp up and humidity? Is it safe to use? Thanks in advance:

Will the bulb be used from outside the viv? Blue is fine for night viewing but usually red will show more light inside the viv.
I'm not a fan of light bulbs inside the viv with WTFs since they will find any way they can to perch on it and if set on a timer will burn the frogs.

Wattage seems high but how much heat it will add depends on how far above the viv it is and what it will be shining through.

i agree i wouldn't put a bulb inside the viv either, but if you must you need to cage the bulb in somehow, and by the looks of that bulb it won't be easy as thats some high wattage and will get hot and anything around to cage the bulb would as well. If it were me i wouldn't use it at all, and definitely not inside the tank. if you want something moon light or night light you can buy a simple LED light stick

Ok its just the temp during the day is around 70'F and i have read they need it like that during the night and 75'F during the day. Or would it be ok as that?

i dont have any experience with that type of frog but you can add a heat mat to the side of the tank to raise the temp. Put it on a thermostat and you good to go

That bulb's wattage is much too high. I wouldn't go any higher than 50 watts even with external bulbs. As every e has said. A bulb inside the enclosure with the frogs is an accident waiting to happen.

Yep, I'd have to agree. An external lamp no greater than 50w, and with a dimmer on the lamp, would be safest.

Btw, my ex-husband and his sister are twins, born on may 23rd, and my close friend and his two twin sisters (triplets) were born On May 23rd, 4 years prior . Great Gemini bday!

I think my mum has an old heat mat, not a reptile one but a heat mat you can attach to the outside. Would it be ok?

I like exo terra rainforest model because it will only get so hot. Mine would get the area to about 78 degrees

That bulb looks like a "black light" - which is basically a party type light bulb. I would suggest getting a regular incandescent house bulb of a lower wattage to heat your vivarium.
