    Default Please Help!!! Red Leg

One of my Red-Eyed Leaf Frog just died of red leg disease. She looked pretty ok in the am but by the end of the day I found her dead in her soaking bowel. I have another Red-Eyed Leaf Frog who is health. Do I need to remove everything from my viv and clean it out in order to prevent her from catching this horrible disease? I know i was suppose to remove her immediately but didn't realize what it was until today. I am a new frog owner,

Sorry to hear about your frog. Red leg is a very serious disease caused by a gram-negative bacteria called Aeromonas hydrophila. Usually it is fatal if not treated. In the early stages, you can use Maracyn, Maracyn Plus or tetracycline. Most of these products are found in a good pet store selling tropical fish supplies. You will also need to thoroughly clean the terrarium. Any other frogs in the terrarium must be removed and placed in quarantine (and treat if symptoms appear).

Its too late both my one frog passed over a week ago and the other over the weekend. I am scared and will not be getting anymore. It's too difficult to have something like that happen. Thanks for the reply though. Wish I would have gotten this advice sooner. Thanks
