i got my first whites about a month ago i noticed the larger one is always green except at night and the other is always brown and considerably smaller they were both green and the same size when i got them is this normal?
are they in the same tank? size and conditions in the tank ? plants ? the sizes they are now ? c.b. or w.c. ?
many factors could affect this. but it doesn't mean that there is a problem, but more info is needed
saw your pics. more plants. temp ? humidity ? could be the larger is a female, or they could be the same sex and one is dominant. is the smaller one eating ? is it healthy ? if it's healthy i wouldn't worry about it. more large leaf plants can't hurt though.
Yes, that's normal.
I checked out your photos also. I have that same exo-terra background in my vivarium, and when my white's is sleeping on the back ground (which he often does), he turns that chocolate brown color... If your brown one is sleeping near or on that background, that could be why.
But as Kurt has said, "Yes, that's normal." White's come in all shades from brown to bright green. If you wanted him to be more of a green color, you could try adding more green plants in your viv. I have tone of plants in my viv, but my white's is still brown; though I've heard of it working for some.
And by the way, I don't know if you'll read this Kurt, but I'm so happy your back! You helped me out tremendously when I first got my white's![]()
