Disinfecting & Live Plants

Disinfecting my viv because of unknown death of newbies...they where not in tank as in skin to soil but I am taking it apart all the same.

How do I disinfect the following...

Live plants?

Shelf mushrooms and wood siliconed to the glass?

Will the coco fiber that is glued to the back wall hold a 10% bleach solution or will it rinse out?


This is a photo of the wood that is attached to the back glass and the plant I am trying to save. The plant has made itself apart of the coco fiber on the back glass.

Live plants can be soaked in a very mild bleach solution. Wood can be baked at 200F for an hour.

But no way to clean wood while still siliconed to tank?

What about Wipe Out? It says it is for use on plants and wood?

Cut it lose and the re-glue it.

CO2 bomb the tank (take the animals out!)
