my female toad seems to be eating all the crickets i put into the tank, and the male isnt getting a look in for feeding time. with this i think the male has bitten her toe off because he's so hungry. ive seen him play rough with her but thats down to the mating season.
can anyone else shed light on this? im going to take her out for a small time tonight so he has a chance to feed.
all comments welcome! Thanks, Phil
the female just seems to be the dominant one... you may just have to separate them at meal time. I have never heard of one biting off a toe before...
My son has trained all of our toads to hand feed (even timid new ones catch on pretty quick). This way he knows exactly how many crickets each has had, and no one can eat more than their share.
The only other option, I would think, is to separate them at mealtime, like Charlotte said.
