As some of you may know I lost 2 of my 5 adult FBTs at the beginning of the week. (1 Sunday and 1 Tuesday) Well for as long as I can remeber I have had 4 green and 1 brown. The 2 that passed where green, which would leave me 2 green and 1 brown. Well, I went to feed them yesterday and to my surprise they were all green. The one that was brown has always been alot thinner than the other 4. Could it be that for all the years I have had him that he has been being bullied by one or both of the ones that passed and now that they are gone he is showing his true colors?
Sometimes my green toads go a darker olive color. I've read that if they are hungry, stressed, or in need of a water change, that can happen. And I find that so true. Any time I fall behind in my water change schedule, one or two of them (I have 3 green) will go darker. But I also have brown fire belly toads in another tank, and they've never changed colors. Could the brown one have actually been a dark olive? If so, it could have been stress that kept him dark, such as bullying.
I'm sorry to hear you lost two of your toads, though.
