Does anyone have any tips?I have seen the article on here by the Argentinian man who bred them outside.I live in the U.K. so this is not practical for me.
At present they are in the reptile room on the top shelf where temperatures reach about 95f in the day and 70f at night.I have a group of 4.1 adults in a glass vivarium 30" x 15" x 18" high. The vivarium is very basic with some diagonal branches and two Fatsia plants. There is a dog bowl for water and I spray lightly every day.At present I feed mainly on bluebottles and crickets.
I would guess that I need to create a rainchamber but any other information would be greatly appreciated.
I have never bred any kind of tree frog, but I have had lots of advice from experts who sell me their own captive bred specimens.
You should use a 55-70 gallon tank to make the rainchamber. The more room the better. I am assuming that waxy monkeys like to lay their eggs on plants hanging over the water, or even in the water. You can use any plant that is non-toxic to the frog. Make the rain bar out of PVC piping with holes drilled into it. It is beneficial to do regular water changes during the day while your frogs are sleeping. For Waxy Monkeys, you should silicon some branches into the tank so they have something to rest on during the day. It is best to turn on the rain at night.
When your tadpoles form, you can feed them anything from fish flakes to brine shrimp until they form. I am unaware of how big these frogs are when the complete metamorphosis, but feed them according to size.
If you do attempt, I look forward to hearing and seeing pictures of you progress. Good Luck!!
It is necessary that the frogs have a hibernation. Cold and dry. (Approximately 2-3 months is 10-15 degrees Celsius). They hold even less. The temperature should be decreased gradually and stop feeding during this time. Only specimens that are well supported hibernation.
If your local temperature during summer is high (25 ° C -35 ° C) can use external facilities', taking advantage of natural storms.
is very necessary that the females are very fed before placing them with males.
They need UVB or natural sunlight. They withstand high temperatures.
Keeping phyllomedusas, terrariums advisable to use mesh (used in Chameleons). I had good results with them.
I hope you can understand me.
Thank you very much,very helpful.
I have waxy monkeys as well.. best of luck breeding but may i ask how old are your adults because i too want to breed mine but not sure how old they have to be before they are sexually matured....mine are 1 years old
