    Lightbulb Methylene Blue?

I found this tonight: Possibility of eye infection? - talk to the frog
"Methylthionine chloride or 3,7-bis(dimethylamino)phenothiazin-5-ium chloride is a chemical compound used as a dye and medication for Gram's stain, Wright's stain, and Jenner's stain and the treatment of methemoglobinemia."

Does anyone use Methylene Blue to treat their frogs?
If so have you had any bad side affects or is it good stuff?

After problems with a recent shipment of frogs I really want to establish a first aid kid for my animals. Thus far Methylene Blue sounds like good stuff, but I want to be sure before adding it to the kit.

Methemoglobinemia is when the body's red blood cells can not release oxygen effectively to the body's tissue.
It sounds like the medicine would help aid the red blood cells in releasing oxygen?
Not certain how it would aid in an infection other than allowing more oxygen to be present in that area which might increase the speed of healing?

I actually just bought a vet book on treating frogs and toads...Methylene Blue was one of the medications in there but I cant remember what it said. I will check the book tonight and post my findings.

Thank you. I ordered some on Amazon just in case, but haven't found anyone else that used it other than the link I posted.

Ok so I was able to find some information about Methylene blue dosage, but it is a little confusing to me.. Ill have to look more for the side effects.
This is straight from the text:
Amphibian Medicine and Captive Husbandry By: Brent R. Whitaker, Kevin N. Wright

    Dosage..
    Comments
    Methylene blue..
    50mg/ml as 10 second dip..
Saprolegniasis, Tadpoles should not exceed 2 mg/ml

    Methylene blue..
    4mg/l as continuous bath..
    Saprolegniasis
