There are plenty of feeders you can get shipped if you don't mind the extra costs. Crickets, roaches, phoenix worms, butterworms, silkworms, hornworms mealworms, beetles, etc. I wouldn't feed a frog - any frog - the same kind of earthworms exclusively (my experience is mostly with tree frogs and a few "true frog" species). If this is a problem, then maybe a frog isn't the best idea. My advice is always, if you can't be sure that you will be able to tend to every aspect of the animal's needs, do not bring it home.

Josh's Frogs has the best feeders in my opinion. If you get a small species you can use springtails and a fly culture that will last a long time. You will still want to order the occasional roaches, phenix worms, and hornworms (or others but the main thing is variety).

FYI - trout worms are NOT earthworms. They are toxic to garter snakes and distasteful to many amphibians.

So the most inexpensive route to go is culturing fruit flies. OK OK, you said that you don't have time.. Dude culturing fruit flies takes like 5 minutes a week; moreover it is completely affordable, even to a poor student. I make at least ten cultures a week and it does it take about 20 minutes.

"Josh's Frogs has the best feeders in my opinion." Clearly you have not looked at their fly cultures, as they have been covered in mites everytime I have purchased from them. I will buy frogs from them, but not fruitflies. Mites are one of the hardest, and unfortunately most ubiquitous issues when getting into culturing flies. They do not kill the flies, are super small, and are a pain to rid yourself of, so most vendors ignore them because they think that cultures with these parasites are okay since they don't kill the flies. The fact of the matter is that mites WILL lead to unhealthy flies. The flies will not breed as successfully either. The only business I have purchased flies from that did not have mites was snailtails. If you want to go with a tree frog, you can get a thousand crickets sent to you for like $17 shipped (one business I work with is the bug company). Then you just take care of the crickets, which in my opinion is a little harder (a few minutes a day).

If you decide that you do not have a few minutes a week, a frog is probably not for you.

By far the easiest feeder insect to take care of is any species of roach. They'll survive almost anything, and they'll eat almost anything. They have WAY less odor than crickets, and they don't make annoying chirrping noises. Just order enough to keep your critter happy for a month at a time, throw a carrot & an apple in there and you're good to go. If you wanted to culture the roaches just add some heat & a steady supply of dog/cat food.

I have never had a problem with Josh's Frogs fly cultures having mites.

Roaches are by far the best bug to feed. I am a big fan of hornworms also.
