I am wanting a Pacman Frog and thought I would come here and ask the experts some questions.
1. Do you use a heating Pad or overhead heat lamp or neither?
2. Do they make alot of noise?
3. Should I house him/her in a 20 gallon tall or a 20 gallon long? I have both. Or should I start a baby in a 10 gallon? I have one of these too.
4. what temperture do you keep them at?
5. What do you feed? Do you have to feed them pinkies? (I would rather not, unless they will eat the frozen thawed ones)
I have read alot on these guys, but I thought I would ask you guys, since I want to do the best by my frog.
Thanks!![]()
1. Both are not completely necessary (well at least for me as i live at a hot country) but they can be used, just remember to locate the UTH at the side or behind the tank.
2.Depends if it's a male or female, as males croak.
3.Pacs don't move much and can be housed in a 10 gallon their whole life. 20 gallons long can be used when it's an adult though.
4.They should be kept at mid 80s at day and mid 70s at night
5.crickets, roaches, earthworms actually they eat almost anything that can fit in their mouths;pinkies are not entirely necesary.
Start babies off in a small enclosure. a large critter keeper or 5 gallon tank will give you better results for you frog to adjust. a UTH should be used to help great a temperature gradient within the enclosure so your frog can deside whether it wants to be cool or warm. if you can't get the temps high enough then you will use a heat lamp combined with the UTH. Be sure the lamp has a dimmer switch so that you can accurately control the amount of light and heat produced by the bulb. when selecting a heat bulb go no lower than 25 watts and no higher than 50 watts.
Day temp should be 80° to 82° during the day and 75° to 79° at night for babies. humidity must be maintained at 80%.
