    Default Is this normal behavior..?

My little guy/girl, Delmar (until his/her true sex appears, and it turns out he is a she), will not hunt or eat unless I hand feed it. He does all of the normal frog things except for eating on his own. I've seen him do it a few times, but it's very rare to find that he's actually eaten the crickets without them being brought to his mouth by a person.
I try to leave the crickets in there for at least a few days, then come back to find out some have died and most are still alive and uneaten. So then I proceed to feed him and he eats like a little piggy.

I don't think that's normal for a frog.. What do you guys think?

i never started tong feeding my frog when i first got him but he has had to adapt to that by hunting for his food lol i did it so he gets a little bit of exercise lol, maybe your frog doesnt realize its food unless the tongs are holding it infront of his face

It can go either way, in my experience. My ornate absolutely will not eat unless it's being fed from my tongs. On the other hand my cranwelli and albino will not eat unless they hunt and catch their prey themselves... My ornate is about 2 1/2 years old and is in very good health, so I wouldn't worry about it

Be careful by letting crickets a few days alive near your frog !
They can hurt your frog and damage it, with infection and death as a consequence.

    Already occur in France.

When you let some crickets alive with your frog, take a look at them. If they stay on your frog without moving, remove them.

I would just continue to tong feed her. its better this way so you frog is ingests much less substrate. I do both tong feeding and let them catch their own.

I do both tong feeding and letting them catch their prey on their own but i usually clear some area before i let loose of the prey to prevent them from ingesting some substrate.
