Can my western toad eat a partially decomposed mouse carcass?

I found a little baby mouse that looked like it had been dead for a few days. Poor thing... Can my toad make good use of it?

I wouldnt do that. what if the mouse died from a disease?

I considered that, but I looked it over and it has a pretty large puncture wound through it. I don't think it died from a disease...

For the safety of your toad I would strongly advise not to do that.

Even though "EEEEEEWWWWWW"-post are helpful, the reason you should avoid it because it's an unnecessary risk. First of all, a mouse isn't the best food to begin with. Second of all, like stated before, you don't know what you are feeding the toad with. It might have some nasty diseases, but perhaps even more dangerous, there's always the risk of parasites and/or nasty worms which could easily become a real health risk.
Get rid of the mouse and buy a big nice B. dubia instead, if you want to give the frog a treat

I agree! Even if the mouse died of natural or wound causes it may now have started to decompose and it is very likely bacteria have moved in.

Protect your frog and feed only healthy critters that you know are "clean".
