Frogs LOVE water! They won't drown, you have nothing to worry about.![]()
Hi,
Just joined the forum after researching PDF for a couple of weeks. I want to start building an enclosure in a few weeks. I'm in no rush, and want to research as much as possible before I start. I'm hoping to get a species such as leucs or maybe azureus.
My main question is this:
I would like to build an aquaterrarium, similar to this - Construction of My Aquaterrarium. I believe that the builder of this enclosure is a professor, and obviously knows his onions when it comes to keeping amphibians. I do not (yet). I would like to have a stream and body of water similar to that one, but I'm worried about frogs drowning in it. Will the frogs be tempted to jump in the water? If so, are there any tried and tested methods of partitioning the frogs from the water.
Thanks.

Hey mate ya have the same ideas as i do. Its hard working at a pet store and not waisting my shrapnel on every little thing i can haha. what an amazing Aquaterrarium this one has made.
It also depends on the frog... my pacman i dont think likes to swim but he likes to soak. let me know how it turns out
Many thanks for the replies.
I've just picked up a 36x12x15 tank, and ordered a pump, heater and some egg crate. Hopefully get started on the project soon.
So, is it fine to allow the frogs access to the water, it will be 5-6 inches deep? I'm sure I read somewhere that they drown quite easily (I may have got that incorrect, I've taken in a lot of info recently). I currently have a couple of aquatic frogs in my aquarium, and they are bloody hopeless swimmers.
Absolutely! As long as There's an easy way to get out of the water, then I see no problem.
