I wish there was more I could do for your frog. I don't mean to sound harsh, but I think your mom is cruel. A pet is a pet regardless of whether is is furry and cuddily or scaily and slimey. It is our responcibility as care takers to provide all that our pets need. I am so sorry Jerome.
I hope that you can save him. A life is a life whether its human or animal. I frown upon such cruelty. Her words "leave it to die" anger me so much, but she is your parent. Do your best to take care for him.
Keep us posted. I will want to know how he is doing.
In a pinch you can use half a teaspoon of sugar to act as honey, but it is not as affective.
If you can't get the proper bedding for him, then use moist paper towels like the kind you use in the kitchen. It's better than nothing. Again the water MUST be dechlorinated! Sitting on those should keep him from sticking to the tank.
If your mother won't allow you to do even the littlest things (like getting bedding or earthworms) to care for your pet, then why would you get another one? I realize that you didn't know what these frogs needed when you got yours, but if you cannot give one what it needs to live, then DO NOT go get another one! Any frog kept in those conditions will die, and it's just setting you up for more heartbreak.
Even if your frog lives through this prolapse, it will not live for long unless you put it in the right bedding and feed it the correct foods.
Also, how big is it? If it's not a baby, and all it's been eating is one mealworm every other day, then it's probably malnourished on top of the other problems.
Finally, do NOT let the frog out in your room. They absorb things through their skin, and their skin is also easily injured. Letting one out of its tank will hurt it.
I was about to say the same thing as DVirginiana.... if you are not allowed to provide the basic care for this one, getting another one is not the answer!
I believe enough pain has been inflicted on jerome's emotions and feelings. there is no need for further scolding LET it be.
If you notice, I said that I understood that he didn't know what to do when he first got the frog. Everyone runs into that, and I understand that sometimes certain things are just not financially an option.
However, he was talking about trying to get another one if this one died. That is why I said what I did about not doing that until he was able to buy the proper things for one. The same thing would happen. That's not scolding, just advice that would keep the frog safe and the owner from going through losing a second frog.
It's a sad situation. nothing more we can do now.
I don't think that is a good idea Jerome. First you must show your mom that you are responsible enough to take good care of a pet. Show your mom that you are doing everything including those instructions given by Grif to save you pacman frog maybe then she will realize how important your pacman is for you.
Kudos to you Grif!It is amazing how you're trying to answer Jerome's every concern so patiently. I must admit that i am short sighted sometimes specially when my son who is the same age as jerome by the way is asking way too many questions and it seems endless sometimes...LOL...You are going to be a great Dad.![]()
When a life depends on my words and instructions and even answering several questions no matter whether they seem insignificant to the matter at hand I listen and answer with patience. I do my best and can only hope that Jerome will do the same as I did when my frog became sick. I would and did everything and anything I could to save her. I succeeded. I hope that Jerome can do the same.
no i told her she knew ill keep one causeits just a gift to me she was doing fine last months my mother taught its just like my adf but i knew its different but she wont listen well i think ill stop feeding him first?and wait till he poops she said its waste of time taking ma frog therehe's in soaking in towel water it was not sticking in the wall now and she seems little active but not pooping. should i just wait?i think she said she'll buy me another one at my birthday or christmas well i hope if he dies ill get a new one?should i stop feeding him and wait till he poops?she also got mad to me that im very desperate to cure it
Jerome some people don't understand that to us they are not Just a frog. To us they're family members and beloved pets. I have been through some tough time with my female and managed to save her life. It is difficult to do because frogs take a long time to heal due to them being cold blooded. You should feed her, but not mealworms. Try and find some nice artworks for her. They are better for your frog and safer.
