well just frog related.

So call me Era or some such.

I have always liked frogs and I was talking with a friend and found out he wanted some frogs so I decided to find out what I could so that his frog endeavors could be successful. At first he wanted to mix frogs and fish (and probably still does) so I plan to convince him that this probably isn't the best based on what I've read.

So I wanted to know what are some decent but unusual starter species?

I was looking at
Amazon Milk Frog (Trachycephalus resinifictrix)
or
Vietnamese mossy tree frog (Theloderma corticale)
or
Red-eyed Treefrog (Agalychnis callidryas)

For me the Amazon Milk Frog is at the top interest wise but it's not my frog setup. :3
Still what are interesting frogs suitable for newbs?

Welcome to Frog Forum Besides aquatic frogs, I enjoy keeping African bullfrogs and toads.

Welcome. As far as a good hardy starter frog, I'd recommend an Australian White's Tree Frog aka Dumpy tree frogs, or Gray Tree Frog. My first one was a RETF and I haven't had any problems with him. Just be sure that what ever you or your friend choose, do tons of research before getting the animal, as well as having the enclosure up and running before acquiring the animal. Good luck!
