Toad-poles
I just rescued the cutest toad-poles from a tire rut in my park! About ten of them...one with hind legs and the rest with hind leg buds. I love spring!!!!

Have you identified the "toads"? One of the few frogs I know that will spawn in tire ruts are the spadefoots. Spadefoots are known as explosive breeders and the tadpoles will mature very quickly and morph in a few days!

Sadly, I don't have any spade foots in my corner of the state! I love those cute lil boogers!!! They are Dwarf American Toads.

I love me some toads. I also have 14 toad tads and have no idea what they will be, and it really doesn't matter since I absolutely love all the toads of NC. And good for you for taking the time and effort to care for them.
