I took some pictures of my Spotted Marsh Frogs tonight, and gee I forgot how much they hate handling haha. I wanted to measure them cause I don't actually think I ever have.
First off is Charlotte, she was probably the easiest out of them all to get near the ruler, haha.
Next is Shaun, his got a red/orange stripe compared to Charlotte's cream/yellow one, and he was VERY jumpy.
Next is Powder, she is Luecistic. She just wouldn't go near the ruler, but she would sit on my hand. I didn't want to stress her so I didn't fuss much about measuring her.
Next up is Winter. He/she got so jumpy,
I couldn't really get him/her near the ruler so I just put him/her in a container a put the ruler next to it. Haha
And here's Winter and Powder
Sorry that the pics aren't that great, they were taken on an iPhone, aha.
and ignore my dodgy nailpolish, I had to babysit on the weekend and the little girl decided to make my nails pink, haha
Thanks for looking !![]()
Wow, they are really pretty! I love the stripes.
Good pics for a phone too!
ThanksSome Spotted marsh frogs don't actually have a stripe, I've only found one without one though:
Thank youI lost my camera, so for now I am stuck with my phone haha
and I thought you'd tried to match your nail polish to your frog and thought you'd done a good job with it too, comparing it to the frog in your photo lol.
My spotted marsh frogs, I cant remember any of them coming out of the pond till now with a distinct stripe down the back.
Your photos have been very helpful to me as my latest froglet, has a stripe extremely bright, the same colour as your Charolette's.
Thing is I wasnt sure if it was a spotted marsh frog like my others as as a froglet with a full tail still, its bigger then my new actual frogs. Its also more aggressive. My other spotted marsh frogs werent jumping around on rocks outside of the water and trying to chase bugs to eat with full tails still either!! (so Im still wondering if this one is a spotted marsh or not.. maybe this froglet is just bigger then the new frogs as its a pig when it comes to food?)
The new froglet leaving the pond, has no sign of spots yet at all, its black in colour but with the very bright stripe down back. Do people here think its a spotted marsh? (maybe its going to be very dark in colour and the spots will start to show once it looses it's tail??)
Also I read somewhere that the stripe doesnt appear till they are mature.. yet this one is a froglet with a very bright stripe. Can the stripe appear earlier, in the froglet stage?
Thanks to anyone who can answer these questions I have. I wish I could get a put a photo up of this other which is looking and acting so different then my others but Ive left my camera at my sister's house.
Very nice and healthy looking frogs, congrats and thanks for share!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Love the Leucistic!!
