During the winter my female did go into hibernation a few times, any where from 7 to 30 days. She came up mid-Feb and has stayed above ground since. She is extremely fat and will eat everything and anything she can get into her mouth. Today they went into amplexus and if there is no water source available to lay eggs will she then absorb them? Right now I have set them into a 10 gallon tank with some gravel on one end, but most of the tank has 1.5 inch of water in it. Input would be great!! She is NOT a happy camper at the moment.

Put her in a tank with about 4 inches of water and an "Island" on one side, leave her in the tank for a little while (overnight) and see what happens.
It's didn't last long, they separated within an hour and no spawn so I'm really happy about that. I have a10 gal I'm going to set up for just the occasion, but they beat me to it. Crazy toads!

I've got 1 male and 2 females and they're always going at it. No tadpoles from them, the females force my male off before that came happen. I have a 10 gallon bucket for just that occasion when my girls do decide to release eggs.
