I'm confused. If the frog croaks its a definate male. No need to see nuptual pads. Nuptual pads show up only when the male frog has reached full sexual maturity. They can start calling before the pads even show. So that is a specific and perfect identifying sign of a male. There would be no need for any other evidence.

It just leaves the 'croak' to be defined by the individual. ChrisK may very well be educated on and familiar with male sounds, I don't know I've never met the guy. But his post runs parallel to my friends statement of "I heard it so it must be a male".

Go on youtube. Type in Pacman frogs breeding. You will hear the males croak. Then you will understand what everyone is saying.

I understand what you're saying now. It is very easy to get them to call though. If you play Pacman frog calls and you have a male he will respond back to the males or in my case Loki will call if he hears me talking as long as I'm not where I can catch him doing it. Sneaky boy .
