I'd be cautious- contrary to common belief, females also make noise. Only true way to tell is the pads (or lack of).

    Hey Cali,

Females can make noise, but the cannot call(croak). Females can growl/grunt/hiss/scream/and make these little popping clicking sounds. The males can do all of these, BUT can perform the special VERY VERY LOUD mating call. The mating call is unmistakable in comparison to the rest of the sounds they make. Even though females can perform these other sounds. They are almost always quiet. The clicking popping sounds are faint and can be loud enough to hear and are a very common sound they make. Usually these sounds. Looked over because they are so faint.

When it comes to calling though, its unmistakable .
