Default Really Worried about my RETF. :(

Hi everyone. So today was the day to finally finish the background and waterfall I've been working on for over 3 weeks. I was transferring my RETF into a temporary cage this afternoon so he could sleep comfortably while I was busy getting everything setup. During the transfer he freaked out and jumped from his cage, onto my shirt, then off my shirt to a tummy flop on the floor. I think it was at least a 3 foot drop. I managed to get it inside the cage but it was clearly stressed out. Side note: Waterfall feature was a major failure. Kind of bummed about that. Anyway, that is not as important as what I noticed while transferring my baby into its new palace. Again it jumped out of the container into the new cage then jumped onto my shirt again and never hung on and made an awkward tumble down to the floor AGAIN! I picked it up and placed it inside the tank. I noticed that one of front feet was clearly damaged. It almost looks like she lost some skin and it was bleeding slightly. At this point I'm freaking out. I feel like I've failed it for not transferring it properly and allowing it to tumble to the ground like that. I'm not sure what to do. I'm leaving it alone and hoping she can heal from this ok but I am wondering if any of you have experienced injuries and what you did. Thanks for your wisdom. I'm really worried. I don't want it to be permanently damaged.

    Hi ,
    Accidents happen. Sorry
I would crate a hospital tank for him as it is easier to keep clean.
Keep plenty of REALLY clean soaking dishes in it. Scrub the soaking dishes w/ hot water.
    Friction removes germs!

I have read of people using weak chamomile tea that has been brewed in distilled water.
(cooled completely , of course ---drop a few drops on the wound)
Or Neosporin (WITHOUT PAIN RELIEVER) the anesthetic or pain reliever will euthanize the frog.

Keep a close eye on the scrapes. If they should increase in size, swelling or redness he should go to a herp vet for antibiotics.

Handling is best done with clean wet hands ( or clean wet powderless/ disposable gloves) .
Cup the frog with two hands during the transfer; especially a frog that is not used to be handled( ie a red eyed tree frog ) because they startle.

There may be an antiseptic product you could purchase that is safe for frogs?

Thanks so much Lynn. I was looking at it a little closer last night through the glass and her finger looks crooked, almost broken. She was active last night and roaming the new cage. Should I take her out again and place her in a clean environment or will she stress more?
