Some of my 13 Gray Tree Frogs are getting fairly large, compared to how tiny they were, and
**** I am wondering when is the best and most appropriate time to have them dewormed?
Since I have 10 in one tank and 3 in the other, I'd have to do all, in each tank, at the same time, so I'll wait until all are at the ideal size before bringing them to the vet. I the larger 33 gal Tank 5 are much larger than the other 5. Here are a few pics to get an idea of their sizes.
Pic #1-3 is seafoam, the only one I've named and one of my favorate, he/she is one of the 5 largest, but not the biggest.
Pic #4, 5 & 6 are 2 of the other larger size frogs, #6 being the largest.
Pic #7 is the largest of the smaller 5 and
Pic #8 is about the average size of the smaller 5
The 3 I have in the other tank are just slightly larger than a froglet that has recently resobed it's tail.
Have never gotten any of my animals treated before but wow 13 grays?! Lucky you.
BTW they're all great looking.
My philosophy on this is if they are eating well and growing, with no obvious health issues, and you don't keep other frogs, there should be no need to treat them for parasites. If you wish to treat them, there are a few threads on the forum dealing with it - use the search facility at the top right of the site.

Thanks John,
They all are doing very well, eating consistantly and pooping, active and alert and don't seem to have any problems thus far that I can tell. I got them all as very small froglets, in the yard, shortly after they left my pool as tadpoles. I do not have any other frogs except for these. They have been growing fast, but one seems to have gotten thin, possibly because it's smaller and may be intimidated or competing with the other larger frogs for it's food. After they are finished eating I have been taking that one out and feeding it separately and it is now eating. Once I set up the 10 gal for the 3 smaller ones (Mr. Hoppy, Baby and Shadoobie ) I may put that one in with them, since the size is closer.
*I was under the impression that, especially since they had been outside, they always had to be de wormed. Trust me when I say I am not looking forward bringing 13 Gray Tree frogs to the vet for de worming and if it is not a necessity than I'd be thrilled not having to bring them.
If I don't have them de wormed *****what risks do I run and what signs should I look for that would alert me that perhaps I should bring them?
Thanks again for the info, this is great news and my pocket book thanks you too!!!!LOL
Thanks, and me either, this is all new to me.
I am such a sucker for any animals. There were so many in the yard and every once and a while one woulld just...speak to me(not to worry, not schizophrenic) and I'd have to bring it in. Some, like Baby, Tiny and Hoppy, were extremely thin or deformed, and others I took in during a rainy or cold spell. While others had beautiful coloring or patterns and in they came!LOL Before I knew it I had 13, I don't have the heart to put any back out. I am trying to resist the urge to take in any more and since it is getting colder it's getting more and more difficult to resist the temptation, but I am trying.
