Hello fellow Agalychnis callidryas keepers. As I was doing routine daily spot cleaning in the enclosure, I came across this leaf with white gooey stuff on it. I have absolutely no idea what it could be and this is the first time I saw it. He's up and active at night, eating like normal, and pooping. Just wanted to know if anyone has seen this before and if I should worry. It was only on that one leaf and I snipped that whole leaf off and threw it away. Here's a picture:
I've never seen that before, but I'm certain that it's not from your frog. Looks a lot more like something that's coming from the plant, or perhaps some insects?
I have no clue, it appeared pretty much overnight. I have seen some fungus gnats in there, it seems like there hasn't been that many lately though. I don't know what could cause that to appear. I'm glad it wasnt from him, though I still worry if that could harm him in anyway.
Som kind of fungus is my best guess. It's hard to google when I don't know the proper name, but there are some kinds that looks exactly like that (almost like lightning). I would not worry about it too much, just wipe it away when you see it (unless the frog's health starts to decrease).
An example:
I'm reading here that it might be from those damn fungus gnats. House Plants: white fluffy, sticky stuff on leaves, nooks and crannies, drip point
I might have to dig out that pothos and rinse it off real good.
Could it be slime mold?

Holy cow, thank's Lindsey, that looks very similar.
I agree. Fungi- "slime mold".
So what do you do, does it hurt the frogs, and how do you get rid of it?
Noooooow This is one of the reasons I don't want any substrate in my enclosures w/ my frogs !

I'd assume that all molds are just a part of the cycle in a vivarium... I occasionally get some white fuzzy mold on my substrate, but have never seen slime mold in my tank and I know nothing about slime molds.
I've been told that springtails can help keep the fungi under control, but I've never tried it.
Lynn, no substrate? I've thought of doing that too. Then do you just keep your plants in pots?
Oh, I'm gonna take a look at your albums!
