Hi guys,
When i bought my heat pad at the pet shop the guy said it would be warm enough.. & dont think it is im gonna get a themometer tom, i have a humidity one, but not one for heat how many heat mats do you guys have for your whites? i do only have a small temporary tank 1 ft tall by 3 wide but like i said it doesnt seem warm enough..........![]()
It's hard to tell without a thermometer. I don't use a heating pad though; I just use a light during the day. But the temperature seems to stay where I need it to.
Get the thermometer and see where it's at. Your frogs will be fine until you get one.![]()
none... I've got a 50x60x80 (cm) tank and the heat of the lamp is enough. got 26 to 28°C during day and 21 to 22°C during night. I think if you don't live in an iglu you don't need extra heating since they don't need much more than room temperature.
I don't do any heating for mine, just a florescent light.
Hi there. I do need heat for my White (living in Canada with an old an drafty house is close enough to an igloo!). At first I tried a heat pad and it really did not make a difference in the temp of the tank (I ended up returning it). Have switched over to a heat light (one of the red reptile bulbs, 40 watts, but the inside of the shade is a brushed steel that seems to reflect heat better than other lights I have) and keep it on 24 hours ~ though I may not need it in the summer here. The tank for my White is 12x12x18 high and it keeps it at around 70 at the bottom and 85 towards the top (the light is raised about 2 inches off the enclosure) ~ he goes back and forth from top to bottom. Usually sleeps towards the top during the day and comes down in the evenings. Once you get a thermometer you'll have a better idea of your needs. Good luck.
Thanks lisa i think the heat pads dont work very well and yeah my house too can feel a bit like a igloo in the winter its pretty cold over here in not so sunny england!.....
No where near as warm as they would have in there natural habitat in warmer climates.
I also have a cat flap which flaps about during the night that my cat uses to pop in and out regularly its suprising the draft it creates. ill check out those lights thanks for the advice!![]()
