I picked up a Pacman at hamburg which I've named Hypnotic.
I just kinda wanted to introduce myself as well as kinda just confirm that I'm doing this okay so far.

Right now he's the smaller Exo Terra tank....
    Natural Terrarium Small/Wide
    45 x 45 x 45 cm / 18” x 18” x 18” (WxDxH)

With coconut and moss on top he has a small water dish that he can't drown in.
Also a heat pad on the bottom of the tank that I'm gonna move to the side.

He is about the size of a quarter.
I fed him a mealworm, mealworm beetle phase, and a red wiggler.

I heard that the mealworm wasn't healthy cause it is full of fat, but what about the beetle phase? Are they healthier?
    Are red wigglers okay?

Did I feed him to much today? To little?

How should I pick him up? He already bit me once. xD And I don't want hurt him. :x

Also how often should I spray the tank? What humditiy level?

    Thanks.
Ooo and here is a picture

Welcome to Frog Forum and congrats on your grumpy little buddy. He is very cute and has nice color. He is a Ornate Pacman.

When it comes to picking them up it is best done from behind. Just kind of gentley scoop him up. Be sure that before you even touch him that you wash your hands very well with a mild cleanser/rince really well then rince again with de-chlorinated water. Then you are ready to handle him.

These are fisty frogs so be careful and do your best not to harm hi. Even if he harms you.

You didn't feed him too much. Meal worms are bad not because of fat, but because their exoslelton is full of chitin that your frog cannot digest and if fed too many in either worm or beetle stages he may become impacted(sever constipation) and possibly die.

Get rid of the moss. It also is an impaction risk. If he accidentally swallows some it can block up his inside. As much as they love the moss to sit and burrow in, it is a risk.

Here is some very good info for you, Frog Forum - Pacman and Horned Frogs - Ceratophrys - Care and Breeding

Any specific questions just ask. There are several breeders and experianced keepers here.

Congrats on yr froggy! I love seeing pictures, he's a cutie. Don't worry, my Nugget is a grump too- he's jumped at my fingers a few times. I'd also listen closely to Grif's advice as we don't want Hypnotic getting impacted.

Cute ornate pacman! All hail hypnotoad! Try to keep his temps up to about 80 with either a ceramic heater or a infrared bulb, try to keep his humidity to about 70-80 percent by misting with dechlorinated or spring water, don't use distilled. When he's not hungry he'll stop eating. Sounds like your doing a lot right, enjoy!

Sure about that? Everything I have been reading says its acceptable use distilled for misting to avoid staining the glass. Using dechlorinated/spring water as their main water source (water dish) and for substrate.

Welcome to the club BTW Alison.

You can use hides or buy some fake plants with wide leaves for shade and to hide under. He/she is adorable.

Your frog is a cutie .

Good food choices are crickets, dubia roaches, cut up worms when he is small. There are some other options as he grows. Purchase a calcium/vitamin D 3 amphibian powder and dust the food every other day by putting a pinch in a baggy and gently shaking the food in it. There are also amphibian multivitamin powders that can be sprinkled on their food once a week.

    Congrats!

I'll be sure to take the moss out. Just the coconut stuff is fine?

Yes. The moss is good for keeping humidity up, but dangerous when feeding with in the frogs enclosure. Keep us posted on your little Hypnotic. He does look pretty grumpy in that photo .

I took the moss out. :3 He seems so exposed though D:
Do you guys use hides? I wasn't sure.
He only ate one red wiggler today but it was pretty big so I'm not to worried.
    I took more pics
He didn't eat that wiggler D:

Just thought I'd update on Hypnotic. =o
He seems to prefer eating his night crawlers out of the cage. It's weird.
I took the opportunity the other day to take some pics while I was at it.

Then yesterday my mirror fell and broke his cage D:
Scary as hell. Luckily no one was hurt.
Took a picture before I threw it out

When I went to go buy him a new cage. I winded up getting him this. (The large one)
Exo Terra : Breeding Box / Stackable Breeding Terrarium
    Is that okay? The dimensions are 16.3” x 10.4” x 5.8”
Luckily all his hides and stuff fit well.

Also when I was buying the cage I picked up some horn worms.
He LOVES them. He'll eat them in his cage and everything without a fuss.
Can I make this his staple? Or is there something like them that I can? I think he likes fat worms. xD

    Glad he is ok.

Hornworms are more of a treat food. They are extremely filling so try not to feed him too many. They are very nutritious though so you could feed them to your frog every week. So maybe 2 a week. Rotate them with his staple. Earth worms are very nutritious as well and easy to digest. They make an excellet staple.

    Thanks for the advice <3

I slowed down on the horn worms and have been feeding him earth worms.
OMG he like doubled in size since I got him o.o
The past few days he hasn't been eating though :c Should I be worried? Today is day 3.
    I even offered him a dubia. D:
How can I tell if he's impacted? I saw him accidentally eat some substrate a few times.

Are you using Eco Earth or Plantation soil? If so he should be fine. How long has it been since he pooped? If you are worried about him being slightly constipated you can soak him in a luke warm bath of de-chlorinated water with 3 to 4 drops of honey disolved in the water. Soak him for 10 to 15 minutes. He may still be full from the Hornworms and earthworms.

Try this and keep me posted.

Well, here's my little Twiggy all healed up minus some lovely blue scars.

Sometimes all you need is some patience, time, a 'sterile' (within proper frog requirements) environment, and basic first-aide frog care.

Twiggy had lived with geckos at a local pet store when I saved him. He had several abrasions when I brought him home.

I boiled regular tap water and dechlorinated all of his water for misting, substrate, and his water bowl. I also boiled his water bowl and house decor. And, of course, allowed it to cool.

Each day I sprayed the tank down, wiped with paper towels until squeaky clean and dry, and resprayed/misted, and washed his water bowl daily with the boiled dechlor water. Then placed new paper towel substrate.

I used a sterile Qtip to apply original neosporin (without the pain reliever, as that type is toxic to frogs), to only the wounds, then very gently misted over him allowing the mist to fall atop of him (not spray him).

He would not eat so I did 1:10 unflavored (plain) pedialyte to water (as prepared above) soak for a few days and also moistened a paper towel in the diluted pedialyte solution to pick him up with.

I would gently force feed him daily either a cricket or small dubia roach. I would remove the heads of both and the legs of the crickets. I continued to dust with calcium/vita D3 powder every other day and herptivite multivitamin powder every Sunday. I pick him up with the warm moistened paper towel for his feeding, rather than my hands. At first he would get anxious and try to jump out. He now just let's me pick him up and just looks at me. I talk to him very calmly & quietly throughout the process.

He still does not eat on his own but his wounds have healed, he has gained back his weight, started croaking/calling again, and hops around at night .

My only hope now is that he will start eating on his own again.

Either way, I love my little baby and will continue to give the extra TLC he needs.

Oh, I no longer boil his water or use the neosporin as his wounds have healed up. He is also on normal Eco earth substrate again and has live plants.

His healing process took about one month to the best of my memory.

Here are some pics of my special baby .

Oops! I got busted sneaking photos... Lol

You can his healed wounds here...

Lol! My Tapatalk froze on the picture upload. Froze my whole iPhone, so I shut it down and restarted it. I thought I lost my post. When I hopped back on I was reading this post and it popped up and said want to continue so I said yes, thinking it was still in the proper place...nope! Crazy phone. I didn't go onto the pc tonight so I'll delete it tomorrow. Der! Lol!

Please pardon my stupidity, lol :/.
