I just bought an Asian Greenback Frog from Petco. I have a 10 gallon tank and have covered the bottom in dirt/mulch, and I put about a half inch to an inch high of moss on half of the tank, 2 artificial plants (one of which hangs from the side via suction cup), a heating pad on the side of the terrarium, a few sticks inside for the frog to crawl on, and a dish that looks like a rock full of clean water thats about 3/4 his height. I also have a humidifier on the way for him. I got everything set up and had him in the tank by 6:30PM CST yesterday, and I put 4 crickets in the tank for him to eat. Since then, he's just been hiding under moss, and only moved about 2 inches from one hiding spot to another. Its been 16 hours and he hasn't eaten or moved. Should I be concerned? Or is this normal as he adjusts?
On a side note, I've been misting the terrarium with a spray bottle and water every hour or so to keep humidity up.
It seems rather normal to me. You haven't even had him a full 24 hours yet. Some frogs take longer to adjust then others. Give him some more time.![]()
Okay, thanks! And i've just ordered a humidifier, should I invest in some kind of lamp as well? Or could I use a regular lamp?
