Okay. I will be aiming to place a shoal of neon or cardinal tetras with rummynose tetras in a well planted aquarium. What are the firebellies chances at nabbing them? For those who don't know, the fish also require moderately acidic water. Will that be fine?

I'm going to bump this. I will probably be doing a firebelly tank with land, shallow water and deep water areas, of which the latter will be heavily planted and filtered with carbon. I will add floating water plants from the existing fish pond. I am hoping that the planting density of the water area allows the fish to escape easily whilst the firebellies will have some difficulty moving through the plants.
