I often medicate my own frogs for parasites and I have to pry their mouths open to administer the drugs. To do this I use the pointed end of these dental floss thingies (I know, I am so technical) and that works well for me. At one end there is a fork with a piece of floss stretched between it and at the other a flattened point. The pointed end is good for this task.
Also you can use liquified baby food, that you can get in the supermarket meant for human babies. Beef or chicken will work. This is what my vet uses.
