I haven't found a reason for the color transformation with Phyllomedusa hypochondrialis. I bought a brown tiger-legged and when I got home it was green. It stayed green for 3 days and today it is brown again.
That is perfectly normal for them. They will change color based on "mood". That is, the temperature, light, moisture, other factors. Nothing to worry about, but I am preferential to the green. Kurt may have some more specific insight about Phyllomedusa.

Thanks for info and quick reply. This is my first go at amphibians. I wanted another species from the tortoises I keep. The color change is fascinating and am glad it's mood and not stress or illness. The little critter seemed pretty adjusted and eating crickets. On another note, We are raising golden Panamanian frogs at the Zoo and have a number of tadpoles and eggs from two breeding pairs. My supervisor is an expert on amphibians.
You should recommend them to the forum.
This a.m. I noticed the substrate was getting a little dry so I added water. I TLTF in its brown phase was sitting on a leaf where I could view it easily. Shortly after I added the water it turned green. Interesting, eh?
Wanted more humidity?
