But as stated, you need to be able to maintain the proper heat requirements for any animal, how you go about it is what you have to figure out depending on your situation, how much heat you need etc. Heat mats are popular for putting on the side of the tank. I can pretty much maintain the heat level i need for my tank with a combination of the house temperature, my CFL bulb, and my heat mat.
