We have had a small Pacific tree frog living in a terrarium in our kitchen for the last three years. How long do these things live?
It depends. I dont know the exact species of frog you have but whites can live upwards of 20 years, grays upwards of 10+, and so on and so forth. Just depends on how well you take care of them. ^^
Everything I've read says about 5 years.
When I posted here a couple of years ago, someone told me the species is Pseudacris regilla.
It's hard to believe that he could live for such a long time. He's only about 2 inches long. We feed him mostly boxelder bugs we find outside our house, although the supply of these is quite variable.
I just looked looked at the Wikipedia article on Pacific Tree Frogs. It says that they can last 9 years in captivity.
Looks like it's a long-term commitment. I've got seven PCF's and I've only had them for a year so far. I never thought about feeding them boxelder bugs. What a great idea! Our house is the favorite swarm area for them in our neighborhood (which drives me bonkers) so it's kind of nice to think that I could at least get something positive out of the nuisance.
