Feeding the Bullfrogs - YouTube I watched this video on youtube, and I wondered how do I grow fungus on a rock? I have an american bullfrog and I want to know how to. If anyone knows.
Looks like moss on the rock. I gather mine from wooded area using a dinner knife and gently lifting the moss in sheets. To keep it alive, it is best to lay it on very thin layer of clay soil and pat it down hard. Moss does best when it comes into contact with an acidic substrate such as clay soil or even coco fiber. It must be kept moist and there must be light, after all, it is a plant. In return, you will find your vivarium will retain more humidity. That said, after several attempts, I still have difficulty keeping my moss alive after several weeks and so I remove it, put it back and slice another section. I'm getting better at keeping it alive because I have added more light. To start your own, rub yogurt or buttermilk on a brick or clay pot, moisten it, preferably with rain water which is also acidic. Place brick in shade and wait several weeks. Also, some of those super hardware stores sell moss in their garden area. There are hundreds if not thousands of species of moss, so watch out, that can become a fun hobby too.
