lol, what have I gotten myself into?! :P Honestly, though, if I do get them to breed successfully I'd be happy to send you all some froglets for free. Just pay for the shipping (which will be expensive for 1-day shipping :P).

Blarg. If I cant get some to breed in my bucket then I'd actually be more then willing to pay for shipping. Thar be nothing so far but my bible study leader said she has millions that hide in her shutters and come out to eat around her dusk to dawn light so in another week I think I'm gona take the bucket out there and see what happens. I really do want to raise some of my own, though. >.< And I'm too afraid of doing something horribly wrong and killing my frogs if I try to simulate a cold cycle to get a captive pair to breed. @.@

Grey tree frogs are extremely hardy. They handle the cold better than almost any other frog. Their blood contains glycerol, which is a natural anti-freeze. It protects their cells from freeze damange, allowing them to brumate above the frost line in below-freezing temperatures. If you put them in the garage in some tupperware with damp substrate over winter they'll be totally fine! Just make sure you fatten them up in the fall, go off feeding for at least 2 weeks before cooling them down, and give them access to fresh water all winter long. All of my frogs brumated together in a small tupperware container with about 2" of damp peat moss and a water bowl. They just dig a little hole and sit in it for most of the winter.

What if the winter is unseasonably warm? Like this year we had record breaking highs. We had 70-80 degree weather in January. In Illinois! @.@

Mine were actually in a wine cooler in my garage, so they never got warmer than 55F. If it's forcasted to be warm and you think the garage will get above 60F you can move them to a refigerator until it cools off again. Also, I had lots of air holes drilled into the lid of their container, I forgot to mention that.

Well, maybe I'll try next year. Is it true that you can tell a grays sex by the lightness or darkness of its belly? And are there any ways to tell which are boys and which are girls when there little? And how large a viv would I be looking at to keep a good number of them happy? I had Percy and Helly in a 12x12x12 zoo med but I'm starting to think that its not gona be big enough to keep several adult pairs along with Percy...

When they're breeding age, a female will be a good deal larger than a male, and male will have a dark colored throat. Not sure about babies.

Becky is correct, the males are smaller and their throats, not their bellies, will turn dark grey or even black. As far as sexing juvenile frogs, you'd probably have to consult an expert, I don't know of any way to tell.

I don't think there is a set rule for size of enclosure. Even a big enclosure will be inadequate if there aren't enough hiding places and things to explore. I like to pay attention to all of my frogs' favorite spots, and I kinda keep a count of them. There are about 30 different places in my tank that my frogs love to hang out, this tells me they have plenty of room with 5 of them being in there. I also just watch how quickly their living area gets soiled. If you notice it's constantly dirty you probably have too many frogs in one area.
