Well, i'm kinda new to the whole frog thing, i have 3 green and goldenbell tree frogs in an exo terra enclosure. Iv'e had them for about 6 or so months now and they are going great. But i need some help since i live in christchurch, new zealand. Where can i get some substrate from? my local pet stores like animates or cyberpets don't have any eco-earth or things like it. At the moment i have small pebbles but i'm afraid of impaction with my frogs, i know i can use bigger stones but i'd rather have a planted habitat. Also, when i get a substrate, what are some good ways to seperate the water from the dirt?. I don't want to be using dirt from my back yard as i'm unsure of what it has in it that could be harmful. Thanks.
Try a local garden supply store or something like that, they might have coco fibre. It's best to get them off the pebbles.
You could get a glass divider put into your tank to separate the dirt form water. But there is other ways though
Yeah probably not the best idea to use dirt from your backyard
Look at this setup I've found (not mine)... it might give you some ideas
