what happens if you never let your frog go into estivation?
is it absolutely necessary?
If you intend to breed your frogs then it is a must. They do not. Have to go through Aestivation as a necessity otherwise. I will say that it adds to their lifespan if they are put through Aestivation. Atleast everything I've read claimes that it adds to their life. They can live very long happy lives without it as long as you. Maintain the correct conditions within their home. Some will go under on their own without a climate change to turn on that instict.
thanks for your answere!
my english is not excellent, but i think i understood it mostly
is it important that the temperature is about 15°C? or can i just stop heating and decrease the humidity?
my frog became a frog in november and i got him about 3 weeks ago
so in november he is 1 year old. thats too young, right?
You want your frog to be a year or older, but I would wait till the fallowing winter after your frog is about 2 years old due to the 1 year mark being in November.november to late Febuary is the Aestivation period. You lower temps/moisture/ and humidity so you simulate the arrival of winter. You do not want to go too low in temps or moisture. You can find information of the Aestivation process by asking on of the breeders on here.
Ask Jessica of IvoryReptiles or Mike of MikesFrogs(Mikes Phat Frogs) I have never put mine through Aestivation so I. Know the process, but it would be better to ask an experianced breeder so you get every detail od how to do so safely.
you have never put yours through aestivation? how old is your frog(s)?
