How old is your frog. It is recomended that no frog younger than 1 year of age should be allowed to aestivate. Usually they will burrow very deep within the substrate and not come out for an extended period of time. You can prevent this by giving you frog a warm soak in de-chlorinated water for about 15 minutes. Also maintain a consistant environment for your frog. 80 to 82 during the day and 75 to 79 at night. Hover around 78 at night. Humidity must be maintained at 80%. Substrate must remain moist or heavily damp. This should prevent him/her from going under.

It all depends on caused your frog to stop eating. Stress is the number one cause for Pacman Frogs to stop eating. Do you bother your frog a lot? Do you handle him often? He should be fed at night and needs a 12 hour day/ night cycle. So 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night. What are you feeding your frog? How often? What are his temps and humidity levels?

what happens if you never let your frog go into estivation?
    is it absolutely necessary?
