I bought this guy at a local show, advertised as a "pac man" frog, but I think it's a ornate horned frog....any thoughts?
I'm far from an expert like a lot of people on this forum, but I believe this little guy is still considered a "Pacman" Horned frog is another name for these types of frogs . Ornate is the type of the Pacman frog also known as Ceratophrys Ornata. (Please anyone correct me if I'm wrong, I'd hate to give someone the wrong advice)
Looks like an ornate to me.
yup you are right. Ornates are still Pacmans. Horned frog is the correct general name for any species of Ceratophrys. and Pacman is a well known and accepted nickname. Ornates are specific variety. Cranwellies/Chacoans are the most common specific variety in the pet trade. this a 100% Ornate. nice frog

Thanks guys! I loved all the red on it which is what drew my attention to it initially. It eats like a HOG. Anyone know how to determine the sex of pacman frogs?
Males will call(croak) between the ages of 5.5 months to a year and also develope nuptual pads(dark spots on each thumb used to grip the female) at 8 months to a year when the reach sexual maturity. Males that call will have dark throats.
Females are quiet and get larger than the males by an inch to an inch and a half. They lack nuptual pads.
Wowee.....that froggie is gonna be RED by the time it matures!! Nice Ornate!!
Good looking Ornate you have there... congrats!
