It won't harm the frog, but watch humidity, water and soil conditions - too much humidity can encourage mold on the plant, deposits from hard water will build up on the roots and slowly kill it, fertilizer of any kind will kill it instantly, as will non-acidic soils (peat moss is the standard).
Although they look tropical, VFTs are native to the US, living as far north as NJ. I've kept them outside successfully in OH and RI (as well as LA & FL).
