Default My luck has been the worst lately :(

The White's I got alittle over a week ago has completely ignored food for the past 2 feeding attempts, so 4 days. At first it wasn't eating out of the glass bowl placed in the terrarium and I managed to get it to eat in separate container 3 times. Past 2 attempts neither the glass bowl or separate container are working, just ignores them. In the separate container, they even crawl all over him and does nothing. Also, for the life of me, I cannot find any poop. I don't know if I should tear the terrarium apart in search of any or what. I haven't seen any in the water dish either. Starting to worry. Daytime temps range from 75-80 and 70-75 at night, humidity stays between 60-80, mist with distilled water, spring water for soaking. Is there anything I can do if he isnt pooping? Warm soak?

What are you offering him? Some frogs are picky eaters. Have you tried alternative food sources? Maybe he's protein or calcium deficient and craving a small warm pinkie.

If you're offering crickets try roaches. If he's refusing roaches can you try a different species? Some roaches excrete a defensive smell/chemical that the frogs don't like.

Also, make sure not to leave crickets with him. If he lets them crawl on him they could start to attack him, if he proves to be weak.

I just offer crickets. The last feeding that he actually ate was dusted with calcium. I'm not sure where I can find alternative food sources here. I can start trying the local pet shops, 1 in particular deals more with herps. When I saw that they started to crawl on him, it was about 15 mins after being in there, I just took him out immediately and put him back in the terrarium and but the crickets back in their container.

Well you definitely did the right thing by separating him from the crickets as soon as they started crawling on him. I will be happy to send you some lobster roaches, free of charge. PM me for details.

Also, I have a good friend that lives in Texas. She breeds several species of roach and feeder insects. I'm sure she'd be happy to sell you some for a very reasonable price. I can contact her for you if you'd like.

It's possible the calcium powder turned your frog off. I think that stuff is kinda bitter. My grey tree frogs spit their food out at first when I first started using powder.

My younger brother's monitor lizard started refusing crickets suddenly one day. He refused food for weeks and weeks. He finally offered a squirming pinkie mouse and the monitor gobbled it up! I would try this with your frog if you can. Make sure the pinkie is not wider than the space between your frogs eyeballs, or you risk impaction.

That would be awesome man. Thank you. I'm honestly getting tired of crickets anyway. Also I don't know about the pinky. He's not a baby but not full grown either. Here's a few pictures.

I can't really tell how big your frog is, but 1-day old pinkies are incredibly small. Sometimes you can buy a pregnant female and wait for her to give birth. Sometimes you can just get lucky and buy 1-day olds, but you almost always have to ask for them.

I'd be happy to send you enough lobster roaches (Nauphoeta cinerea) to start a colony. If I were you I would google how to culture lobster roaches, and also feeding techniques. These roaches climb, so you have to make sure they won't escape your tank and get loose in your house. I use forceps to feed my frogs by hand, one roach at a time.

I would force feed her/him. You can make your own mixture for them! Poor thing

Alright I did the pedialyte bath last night for 20 mins. She's still all mopy in her tank. I moved her to a temp 10 gallon with her piece of drift wood 2 fake plants, water dish and damp paper towel substrate. I think something is going on in this tank and I'm just gonna tear it all down and redo it. I have speculations of something in the tank because even my pothos plant leaves are coming up with these dark spots out of no where. IDK. Also she still hasn't eaten so, what does this mixture consist of? I always read about how aggressive eaters these frogs are and I'm just not seeing it.

I don't know the mixture, but you should continue the soaks and try and force feed him some pieces of dusted earthworm. They are easy to digest.

She's like wide awake now mostly exploring the new tank she's in. I was dreading having to force feed. I understand that it is a 2 person task and I dont know anyone that would be down to help me with that lol. I have 2 crickets roaming around the enclosure too and she periodically looks down at them crawling around. She seems to be more lively in this temporary enclosure than she was in the main one.

Try wrapping your baby in a dechlor water moistened paper towel to hold him. Have your worm or cricket (remove the back legs) in a cup already calcium/vita D dusted and ready to go. Have a soft Qtip moistened with dechlor water set aside in case you need it to help slide it it a bit. Gently use a clean credit card or shoppers card to carefully open the side of her mouth. Slide the food in just far enough for your frog to close her mouth over the food while removing the card. She will likely close her mouth as soon as the food hits her tongue. Be sure she is upright or slightly leaning forward, not laying back, so she does not choke. She should then swallow it on her own. I then use the wet Qtip and moisten my retf's lips. It helps to make him swallow.

Stay calm and as relaxed as you can.

Thanks I'll attempt a force feed tonight as its going on week two already that she hasn't eaten. I have nightcrawlers in the fridge still that I will be using, or my shipment of lobster roaches thanks to King Cam, if they are there when I get home tonight. I've been trying to research this green spot thing and narrowed it down to it being stress related. I have her in the hospital tank still and I have been leaving her alone for the most part to see if she breaks out of this stress that she's under. I know this force feed will cause more stress but I mean, I'm not having too much of a choice in the matter.

Ok was dreading this day, I broke down and had to force feed her :\ she was verrrrrrrrrry stubborn and I felt so bad, but I force fed 3 good size chunks of a night crawler. She probably thinks I'm the biggest A hole and scarred for life I gave a her a 10 minute pedialyte bath after ward and put her back in the tank where she looks like shes had better days. Also she made a few noises while attempting this, I'm assuming they were "do not want" distress noises. It was almost as if she was growling at me I hope she starts to eat, cuz I dont know how much longer I can do that.

Omar it is tough love. Somethinsg have to be done to save their lives. If it means forcing them to eat then so be it. When it comes to force feeding you have to be hard. You can feel bad, but do not show stress or sadness while attempting to force feed. Animals can pick up on your emotions and be stressed further. If your frog is in bad shape and not eating on its own then you must intervene and do what must be done to save her. They will show frustration and sometimes even anger, but do not let that stop you from what must be done. It is difficult, but you must be strong for her sake.

    Believe me I know.

Thanks for the encouraging words. Okay so now let's say she doesn't start eating? How long do I wait to attempt another force feeding?
