Whatsup guys! I gotta new pac over the weekend from Phat Phibs, and I gotta say its absolutely gorgeous! Its a strawberry albino, no pics right now, but when I get home I'll be sure to post. One question though how often should I be feeding and how much typically? I fed him 5 or 6 small mini meal worms on saturday. Didn't want anything to do with crickets though. Gonna give earthworms a go as well as the samurai food. I've been noticing my ornate has been doing great on the stuff, so I want to get the little guy interested
Pics coming soon!!
First....congratulations on your new frog!
Do NOT feed meal worms/ super worms as a staple diet, only as an occasional treat!!! The outter skin (chitin) of the worms can become a mass and cause compaction in the frog and possibly cause death.
Offer food nightly. Try night crawlers, dubia roaches, crickets, fish(mollies or guppies), You can also try using the food offered by Samurai which is a powder that you mix with water to make a dough. Depending on the frog's size, you can also offer it a pinkie mouse once every 2 to 3 months as a treat.....but only if the frog is large enough to handle it!!.
I think you should also visit the care sheets and do some reading, it will help answer some questions for you as far as husbandry goes to.
Good Luck!!!
I second Jessica's post.
Are earthworms ok
Yes. Earthworms and Nightcrawlers are an excellent food for frogs. Very nutritious and easily digested. Just make sure that the worms don't contain any dyes/chemicals/ or smell bad. Just cut pieces off the worms of appropriate size and offer them to your frog. You should dust them like you do your frogs crickets too.
Here he or she is lol!!
Praying for a female, just found out my Ornate was a male being that he's been croaking like crazy. Thinking about maybe giving breeding a go later in the future.
That is a beautiful shade of red.
What a gorgeous frog! (jealous, lol!)

Thanks!!!
One thing that I've been meaning to ask for a while (couldn't because my dogs chewed my power supply to my computer) is how often to feed adults too. And when you say offer food nightly, when do I stop offering? This little guy will eat until it pops, and I don't want to over feed. Frequency and amount has always been something I wasn't too sure of.
Adults can be fed every 2 to 4 days, but you can offer a food item everyday like one nightcrawler or dubuia. This is inbetween large meals. Babies should be fed daily and as a rule of thumb feed him/her as much as he/she will eat in 15 minutes. Or set up an amount to feed like 5 small crickets or 3 mediul crickets. Nightcrawlers and earthworms should have pieces cut off starting at the tail of appropriate size and offered. About 1" pieces are a good length.
I plan on getting some "red wigglers" those little tiny night crawlers. Their about inch usually so they sound perfect.
I mean is it really ok for the animal to eat as much as it can in 15 min? 5 worms a day seems like a lot no? Or am I reading it wrong lol
You can start off with smaller meals and add an extra worm or whatever you're offering if your frog takes it that's fine. Babies need a lot of food and nutrition. Adults will not always accept the food you offer. Especially if they are not hungry. Babies will occationally do the same. Its not too much. Worms are easily digested and very nutritious.
Awesome looking pac, loving the colors.
Hopefully that color stays. The ones i have and seen tend to fade and your left with some red.
This is what they fade to look like.
They are really nice looking though
Even faded they look great.
They really are
